Listen: Kill J – Phoenix

Another of Scandinavia’s mysterious emerging artists, Kill J mixes dark electronic beats with pixie-like vocals to create something unusually haunting.

There isn’t much known about the Dane besides the artistic black and white press shots and one recent song uploaded to soundcloud.

With ‘Phoenix’, soft shuffling percussion and skittering synths combine, creating a minimalist, focused energy. There’s also a great use of warble effects on the high pitched vocals making parts of it sound like an alien distress transmission. It’s all very other-worldly. Stream below.
