Listen: Jacob Douglas - "Hellion"
Promising Swedish troubadour Jacob Douglas returns with new song "Hellion" - an emotionaly charged four minutes of guitar led balladry.
We first caught wind of Douglas last autumn where he released debut single "Strawberry Salesman" through the fledgling Stockholm / London based label Talent Is Luck. A debut EP - Look Out From Schmidt - followed shortly after but went largely unnoticed. A work in progress, Jacob has spent the past 12 months developing his craft and has returned, almost unrecognisable, with a song that deserves a lot more than just a quick glancing listen.
A slow burning torch song, "Hellion" posseses the very same 'magic' that runs in the DNA of his transatlantic counterparts of say, Bon Iver, The Acorn and The Antlers. Restraint, control and release: it's a technicolored, dazzling display of songcraft with each second dripping with melancholy and longing.
