After a stint as bassist in Evans The Death, London-based songwriter and current Joanna Gruesome frontwoman Alanna McArdle seems to have mustered enough self-belief to go it alone. Having been writing, recording and uploading solo offerings on the side for the most part of the last year, McArdle’s lone outlet Ides seems to be picking up the pace as of late, cropping up on numerous gig billings over the past few months – including an impressive support slot at White Heat earlier this week.
The highlight and closing track of her live performances, ’16′ brings to mind the penetrative raw edge of early EMA and Bill Callahan’s Smog.
