With his rather faecetious approach to band details – 50 Cent is an influence, fair one, but Karl Lagerfeldt is also a member, apparently – it’s no surprise that Londoner Howl’s latest track, ‘Close’ was, in his own words, ‘written in love recorded on ketamine’.
The first recording to surface from the Himalayan Headwaters affiliate in a couple of months features synths which float and fracture like cirrus spattered across a blue sky, merging into tinny programmed beats and Howl’s sedated vocal glugs. Simple, yet totally disarming post-watershed soul.
