Listen: Hop Along - "Powerful Man"
With the release of their second album fast approaching, Hop Along have shared a hook-laiden new cut from the release.
Bright rhythms, bubbling refrains, and sweetly tenacious vocals craft a lusciously sun-infused sound, counteracting completely with the track's dark lyrical story of abandoning a soul in trouble. "She's not gonna help you" Frances Quinlan cries, chorus bleeding into blazing guitar riffs and pummelling percussion. Raw yet delectably soaring, "Powerful Man" is enticing as they come.
The second track to be unveiled from the upcoming album (you can stream "Waitress" here), "Powerful Man" does nothing to quell the rising excitement surrrounding the band. When the first songs prove this addictive, it's an arduous wait for what's set to follow.
Painted Shut is set for release via Saddle Creek on 4 May.
