Listen: Elephant – “Elusive Youth”
South London-based indie pop duo Elephant deliver “Elusive Youth,” a winsome little jaunt of a tune that spins out like a carousel ride on a clear day.
The single stands in rather stark contrast to the hazy bedroom dalliance of 2013’s “Shapeshifter”, demonstrating the band’s ability to move between smoldering and swoon-worthy pop stylings with equal aplomb. Amelia Rivas’ graceful vocals soar alongside Christian Pinchbeck’s woozy synth work and lively percussion.
It’s a sunny gem that would sit right at home in a playlist featuring the likes of Saint Etienne’s “Avenue” and “Birthday” by The Bird and The Bee, throwing a bright light into winter’s dark corners.
Elephant are gearing up to release their debut full-length this spring via Memphis Industries, having completed work on this long-anticipated album in December.
