Listen: Duke Dumont feat. Jax Jones – “I Got U”
It’s fair to say that Duke Dumont had a pretty good 2013. “Need U (100%)” dominated radio stations, clubs, and BBQs over summer and managed to bag itself a Best Dance Recording nomination at the Grammys. In the space of a season, Duke Dumont went from underground star most known for his remixes to mainstream hero, bringing with him that pop-friendly dance feel that was everywhere in 2013.
To kick off 2014, Duke Dumont is preparing to release his new single, “I Got U”, with fellow producer and the first signing on Dumont’s Blase Boys Club label, Jax Jones.
Steel drums and dreamy vocals lead this joyous march, splashed with warmth and a sense of jubilation. The warm, light synths wash over you like a wonderfully cool breeze on a hot day. It’s the perfect track to combat the winter blues; as the winds pick up and the temperature really starts to drop, “I Got U” is ready to transport you to some distant tropical island island with cool drinks and clear blue waters or even just the park on a really sunny day with your mates and a crate of beers.
It might be a little too early to take advantage of the weather it’s designed for, as with “Need U (100%)”, but for now it’s doing a pretty great job of making me forget that my heating bill is going to be pretty high trying to stave away the cold.
