Seemingly drawing from similar influences as that of label mate Elite Gymnastics, recent Acéphale signee Doss’s newest release “The Way I Feel” is a lush sounding electronic production that simultaneously pays homage to classic nineties sounds whilst pushing towards unexplored territories – the whole thing dripping seductively with a very real emotion.
The producer and singer famed for “exploring electronica as a concept” is never more exciting than on this full-sounding track that feels almost conscious expanding. Managing to flirt across various different styles of electronic music, “The Way I Feel” hesitates only momentarily with its intro before launching straight into full bass grooves, four-to-the-floor rhythms and classic Euro synth lines that sound extra-terrestrial. However, it’s Doss’s voice that is the real star; whispering faintly enough that you’d be excused for assuming she’s barely trying. The reality is the track produces a sense of summertime euphoria that could see it as the stand out electronic production of the season.
Taken from her self-titled debut EP, “The Way I Feel” will be released by Acéphale this April 29.
