Listen: David Lynch – 'Noah's Ark' (Moby remix)
Someone, somewhere, must be feeling a dangerous bout of God delusion right about now.
Just imagine, being sat around a table of friends in the pub and conversation wanders to the classic topic of who you’d invite to a fantasy dinner party. And then, suddenly, one of the group twists the discussion slightly, giving it a thoroughly modern edge.
“Who would your ideal collab or remix mash-up be?” the friend in question asks.
The question posed, in that very moment, seems to matter more than anything else. More than the beer readily flowing, more than the salted nuts you seem to be eating for no real reason whatsoever. You become engrossed in having to think of the perfect, and yet all the while bizarre, combination – lest you fall flat to social embarrassment in front of many of your peers.
“Hmm,” you pause for a second. “How about… Moby… remixing… David Lynch?”
Everyone gasps in awe. “That would be amazing,” one says. “It needs to happen!” another exclaims.
And now, you can just imagine that same person waking this very morning to see this landed in his inbox. Moby’s take on David Lynch’s track from his recent venture into the music world, ‘Noah’s Ark’.
That person must be thinking what else he is capable of. Perhaps life is just like The Truman Show or Vonnegut’s The Breakfast Of Champions after all.
Or maybe we should all just accept this for a beautiful, natural thing that has simply happened and try not to look too deeply into things?
Either way, listen to the remix below. It will be released specially for Record Store Day 2012.
