Listen: Dan Bodan – Anonymous

Is this the new sound of Berlin? There’s certainly little trace of the German capital’s infamous club scene on resident music-maker Dan Bodan’s newest DFA release, ‘Anonymous’.

The follow-up to last year’s ‘Aaron’ treads a similar line in sleek despondent electro-pop. Recalling Perfume Genius’ knack with minimalist beats and heartfelt lyricism, Bodan’s velvety operatic vocals float gently atop tremulous synth tones and pitter-patter hi-hats. One of the summer’s more mellow underground cuts.
