Welsh outfit Cut Ribbons are set to release their latest single ‘Luna’ on 8 April through trusted new music aficionado Jen Long’s Kissability label. The follow up to 2012 release ‘Damascus’ finds the Llanelli quintet serving up another generous portion of ear pleasing, hook laced pop.
They foster a false sense of calm in the opening minute with shimmering cymbal splashes and dewy jangles of guitar perfectly complimenting Aled and Anna’s playfully pure twin vocals. This steady structure of sweetly melodic notes was never built to constrain their boundless nervous energy and by the time we reach the chorus, Cut Ribbons burst into life with a hail of skittering drum patterns, trilling guitars and chiming boy/girl harmonies.
‘Luna’ harks back to the best bits of mid 00’s indie disco and we’re not even gonna try to conceal our hopeless infatuation. Dig in below:
