Listen: Bandobranski/Nordmark - "My Head My Ruin (feat. Kicki Halmos)" [Premiere]
Bandobranski/Nordmark is the new collaboration between Per Nordmark of Kriget and Marko Bandobranski, the film director (who worked with Kriget in the past). They've unveiled "My Head My Ruin", the first in a series of nine 'episodes' of music and film offered in unison.
"My Head My Ruin" is a cyclic, throbbing bout of noirtronica. It's hypnotic, tribal even, but doesn't shy away from being grand pop. There are still sticky earworms and heady beats to sink your teeth into. Kicki Halmos' vocals are pure, silk-smooth gold, providing organic respite from the shadowy electronics.
The pair have explained the project and track:
"We want to get away from the linear narrative and the shallow structures that film and music all too often end up in, in order to highlight the uncontrolled and subconscious. Everything can not be explained. Everything is not supposed to be explained... the song is about embracing the dark moments in life as they come. The states of unknown, the thoughts where the weird and the unpleasant take reign of your head with its true beauty. It's about that feeling of letting go to find clarity."
