Listen: Ballet School – Heartbeat Overdrive
Fellow 80s-lovers take notice: Ballet School are here to plié. Recently signed to the Bella Union label, and having formed just last December, the band will be launching their first single on 19 August.
According to the band’s website, “The amalgam of diverse influences of the three members briefly summed up is 80′s pop, shoegaze and RnB and the result is a vibrant and colourful new sound, created to be experienced live.”
Living up to the aforementioned description, Ballet School sound catchy as hell, and as pretty and pink as a teenage Molly Ringwald chewing bubble gum. The guitars are bright and spacey, the vocals invoke vintage Madonna, and the beat was clearly built for John Hughes intro credits.
