Brisbane trio, Avaberée put out one of the most potent pop tracks of the Australian summer in 2012. Button-bright ladies Aimee Cavanagh, Genevieve Bufalino and Irena Lysiuk are back this week, mining those same rich seams of 80s pop with the follow up to ‘Lover Of Mine’, entitled ‘Running Out’.
Much like their Toronto counterparts, DIANA, these girls know the value of nostalgia and aren’t afraid to show it; ‘Running Out’ is crawling with chintzy keyboard riffs, echoing percussion and zippy basslines, their pristine harmonies winding around the luscious Blondie-ish melody all the while. Think Stealing Sheep’s magical, quirky aura spliced with Ladyhawke’s pop prowess.
