Listen: Andy Shauf – You're Out Wasting

George O'Brien
Andy Shauf of Regina, Canada is producing some wonderfully dark and subtle folk music.
The splashy cymbals and eerie windiness of ‘You’re Out Wasting’ creates an uneasiness, which is dismissed by a warm harmony to the neatly catchy chorus. There are melancholic echoes of the late-great Elliott Smith in both Shauf’s vocal, the simple chord structure as well as the short introduction of a bluesy piano bridge.
The track comes from his album The Bearer of Bad News which is out now.
