Listen: Alpines - "Take Shelter (Years & Years cover)" [Premiere]
London electro-pop two-piece Alpines have covered "Take Shelter" by Years & Years, and you can hear it now, exclusively on Best Fit.
Stripping back some of the pristine R&B gloss of the original, Alpines opt to put a moody twist on the track. The vocals - this time delivered by Catherine Pockson - are similarly soulful, but where slick dance beats and shimmering pop synths once lived, you can now find lurching bass and serrated pads.
It's a remarkably self-assured version of a powerful, high-profile ditty, and caps off a whirlwind year for Alpines - 2014 has been massive for the pair, having performed across the UK and Europe and released their first ever LP. It's good to know that they're not planning to rest on their laurels.
