Up until recently, Tibetan-Swiss artist Aïsha Devi was peddling her cosmic pop under the Kate Wax moniker. She’s now reverted back to her birth-name and released new EP, Aura 4 Everyone at the beginning of the week on Lyon x Geneva imprint Danse Noire.
Standout track, ‘Jesus & The Math’ encapsulates all that is charming about Aura 4 Everyone‘s baroque lo-fi skittishness with throbbing techno synths and pounding snare volleys ricocheting around Aïsha’s smoky cawing. Imagine if Grimes and The Knife pooled their pop finesse; part dreamscape-part night terror, ‘Jesus & The Math’ is about as close to that (un)holy matrimony as you’re likely to get.
