Let’s Away take us on “A Tour Of The Stars” in brilliant new single [Premiere]
“Calculate the time I’m alone but I’m not lonely.” There’s always something wholly engaging about melancholy and Let’s Away do melancholy brilliantly.
The somewhat enigmatic duo are old friends from the North East, who now reside in London and Manchester respectively. With this new cut recorded between the capital and Leeds by James Mottershead (British Sea Power, Sundara Karma, S.C.U.M) you'd be forgiven for thinking a feeling of disconnect would sneak through. Not the case.
The sound they make is assured, entirely satisfying and beautifully relatable. A chunky, metronomic riff accompanies the sullen, effortless melody towards the track's wonderfully sparkling '90s-inspired refrain, “she and I do as we do / just to get through to tomorrow”, as twinkling guitar work adds hope to the lyrical solemnity of memorising ones shoes.
Speaking about the track, the band says: “The song started as an iPhone voice memo in London, grew into a demo recorded in Newcastle and we finished this final version off in Leeds. It's all but unrecognisable from the original idea now, which was basically us trying to rip off Nirvana…”
Premiering today, take “A Tour Of The Stars” with Let’s Away who are making their mark whilst filling something of a void in the darker side of British indie-rock. We can’t wait to hear more.
