Listening to the rhythmic pop of “Police”, it might come as no surprise that KING previously earned her living teaching dance in her hometown of Copenhagen. Born to a Cuban mother and a Chilean father, her music blends all the coolness of Scandi-pop with the strong Latin influences of her upbringing.
“Police” is a commanding follow-up to KING’s debut single “Promise”, which quickly clocked up several thousand views on YouTube. “Police” sees KING’s sound moving in a gritty, defiant direction, blending emotional strength with a killer chorus. The result is a richly textured pop track, layering hypnotic percussion and a rousing vocal to great effect.
““Police” is about the feeling that someone or something is stealing something from you,” KING explains of the inspiration behind the track. “We are living in a world with a lot of distractions - fancy parties, expensive clothes and keeping up a cool image seems oh-so important. You sometimes get the feeling that all of these things are stealing people away from you.”
