Listen: Kate Miller - "Fortify" [Premiere]
London singer and art student Kate Miller might be little known, but her lustful new track “Fortify” is so comfortably assured that it speaks like an old friend. We have the premiere today on Best Fit.
Opening with tumbling percussion and a burr of calming synth, Miller soon gets right to the heart of the track (perhaps a little too literally for some) with “I’m going to pull you deep within / until you’re a part of me / c’mon and fortify my love”. Littered with guitar ticks and tender harmonic gushes, “Fortify” at times carries the tone of Jessie Ware’s intimate electro-soul balladry though worn on the sleeve of a promising 19-year-old songwriter.
Miller has just finished recording her debut EP with Danton Supple (Coldplay, Ian Brown, Ed Harcourt), so keep your eyes peeled for more material.
