Jay Som has what we all need right now: "1 Billion Dogs"
San Francisco Bay Area-based Jay Som has shared a double dose of fuzzed-up fun in the form of "1 Billion Dogs", a new single from upcoming LP Everybody Works.
"1 Billion Dogs" is a storming cut that straddles the worlds of dreamy, light-as-a-feather pop and gunked-up grunge. It's a glorious conflict between raw and polished that doesn't really adhere to either camp - but when the devilishly off-kilter guitar solo staggers into earshot it doesn't really matter what it is, just that it doesn't stop.
Jay Som - aka Melina Duterte - gathered a bunch of early material together for her Turn Into collection last year, but this'll be her "proper" debut.
The entire thing was written, recorded, performed, and produced by Duterte ("save a few backing vocals") over three weeks in her bedroom studio.
