IRAH master the art of build and release on the magnificently epic "Worship The Sun"
Danish duo IRAH are continuing to explore the outer reaches of dream pop on their latest single.
Following on from the likes of "Into Dimensions" and "Fast Travelling", Stine Grøn, Adi Zukanović and a rotational drumming lineup which has recently included the great Seb Roachford keep pushing the band's sound as much as possible on "Worship The Sun".
This time around, IRAH build the tension through an opening which throbs with doomy bass and bells and a cutting synth line fizzing towards white noise. Stine Grøn's hypnotic vocal provides some sense of balance or lightness; the singer remains a quasi-mystical presence in the band as she sings lines like "imagine you're made of diamonds / and you light up everything you touch" and it's hard not to focus in on Grøn's beautiful voice as a focal point.
The release comes through a magnificent two-minute chorus-come-outro; the percussion goes helter-skelter, approaching drum and bass in style, and it pushes the track forward while synth noise floods every available space. There's a buzz which gathers round the speakers, almost overwhelming Grøn as she lets her vocal soar. IRAH haven't let us down yet, and this is another incredible addition to their string of excellent releases.
