"Tokyo" is a classic Intertwine single - all too rare, and completely brilliant
Norwegian three-piece Intertwine are back with their first new music since 2015's Goraikoo album.
Although Intertwine started back in 2006 as Tarjei Ekelund's solo project, music has been hard to come by over the last twelve years. "Tokyo" is an example of how wonderful the Norwegians can be when they actually release something.
With Aleksander Berg and Ruben Nesse (head honcho of Bergen's Brilliance Records) now rounding out the project, "Tokyo" is a gleaming, yearning synthpop gem. It's a song which frames itself around the touchstones of Factory Records, the Balearic sound and classic icy Scandinavian electronics. It captures the feeling of being overwhelmed by the big city, and trying to ride that wave of inspiration rather than being swept aside in the bustle.
We can only hope Intertwine are in the groove now, and more music is on the way.
