Danish singer Ida Wenøe bewitches with the alt-folk of “Lyla”
Ida Wenøe’s signature style pairs ethereal vocals with delicately finger-picked guitar, conjuring to mind the magic and darkness of classic fables and fairy tales.
Latest release “Lyla” is a blend of Wenøe’s native Danish noir, and the influences of traditional British folk. Threads of loneliness run through her yearning vocal, lamenting over and over “I miss you now / Like I missed you then”. There’s something chilling about Wenøe’s work, suggesting the intriguing singer-songwriter knows things you don’t, and perhaps never will.
Prior to her solo work, Wenøe fronted the acclaimed Boho Dancer, touring Europe to critical acclaim. April will see her stepping out with her debut solo record, Time of Ghosts, which will hopefully offer plenty more tracks just as magical as “Lyla”.
