Hope Tala finds soothing ocean tones on first single "Blue"
Hope Tala is a 20-year-old singer/songwriter from London, and finds a balance between soft sounds and a powerful underlying message in new track "Blue".
Combining her love for literature with music, Hope Tala exerts her woeful reflections in a beautifully contrasting manner.
Hope Tala's intricate songwriting is projected in a peaceful manner, but almost holds a beacon of lust as her vocals scale to angelic heights.
The soothing vocals seem sorrowful in parts, holding onto the brooding undertone.
Mixed with small bursts of R&B and hushed indie pop, Hope Tala paints a unique picture that reels between a peaceful swim in the ocean to an impossibly hard realisation.
Explaining that realisation, Hope Tala says, "In "Blue", I wanted the subject matter - the haunting nature of unrequited love - to really manifest itself in the listener's head through a combination of metaphor in the lyrics and stripped back production in the music."
The whimsical vocals portray a fragile soul, but also provides an overwhelming insight into her minimalistic approach, as she takes influence from Lauryn Hilll, D’Angelo and Shakespeare.
