Hookworms' MJ releases tender solo cut "It Follows" as Family Scraps
Family Scraps - aka MJ of Hookworms - has shared an official version of "It Follows" from his upcoming Too Pure AA-side.
"It Follows" is resounding triumph - it begins life a lo-fi ode with threadbare guitars and barely whispered vox, but as the seconds tick by, MJ dials up every element. It's evocative, warm, tangled, syrupy, and beguilingly uplifting... the thick textures and frothy fuzz act as sonic swaddling, enveloping your soul.
Both songs on the upcoming AA-side are about loss, and were recorded at the Suburban Home studios prior to the devastating floods of 2015.
Family Scraps is working on a debut album for 2017, but has no live plans.
The demo edit was released at the top of 2016, but has been given a spitshine and is to be paired with "Ourselves" for the first instalment of the 2017 Too Pure singles Club.
