Heart/Dancer tantalisingly toe the border between dream pop and synthpop on "The Void" [Premiere]
As this winter’s first frosts have begun coating morning grasses, Best Fit are pleased to premiere “The Void,” the latest single by Gothenburg, Sweden duo Heart/Dancer on the eve of their debut LP release.
Beautifully skeletal as the frozen tundra, “The Void”s frosty electronics creep beneath the peerless twin vocals of Linnéa Atieno and Joakim Buddee, tantalisingly toeing the fuzzy border between dream pop and synthpop.
Early on, Atieno alludes to an “empty heart telling me to give in”; while we should be gladly welcoming the opportunity to submit Heart/Dancer’s enveloping beauty, the duo have darker sentiments on their minds:
“The Void is about nothingness. The hole left of someone or something now being gone, so blatant it comes alive. It’s an aching trace of what's been a part of you, what should be there but isn’t. We wanted to write a pure heartbreak story, about a deep wound that takes years and years to heal.”
Heart/Dancer’s debut LP My Heart Is A Dancer drops 27 November courtesy of Sommarhjarta. Stream “The Void” below.
