Sweden's GRANT dazzles on twinkly new track "Shimmer"
When your first single knocks it out of the park, where do you go next? That was the question facing Swedish newcomer GRANT as she entered 2017, following the release of dramatic debut "Waterline" towards the end of last year.
Luckily, GRANT is yet to put a foot wrong as she follows punchy sophomore single "Wicked" with glittery new offering "Shimmer". As with its predecessors, "Shimmer" is littered with twinkly piano that provide a stark contrast to GRANT's powerful voice. The new release does, however, show a softer side to the singer with its pillowy swells of strings and a more restrained vocal performance. This tenderness is complimented by "Shimmer"'s monochrome video, featuring artfully shot displays of affection between couples.
"Shimmer" is the most recent cut to be taken from GRANT's forthcoming debut album, In Bloom, due out 1 June. Despite a limited back catalogue at this point, excitement for the release is already building as GRANT takes award shows and festivals by storm. Her performance at the Swedish Grammy Awards brought new strength of emotion to "Waterline", giving us a suggestion as to what to expect from her future full-length.
