GIA teams up with Matoma for queer pop banger “Heart Won’t Forget”
Whilst many queer artists have broached the mainstream in recent years, several of whom are vocal about their LGBT+ identities, few are as lyrically open as GIA in new track “Heart Won’t Forget”.
With refreshingly honest lyrics such as “It was you and me / Girl on top of girl”, “Heart Won’t Forget” is a queer pop track that wears its heart and identity on its sleeve.
The track sees GIA teaming up with Norwegian producer Matoma - whose previous production credits include The Vamps and Becky Hill - ensuring tight, dance-infused production. He pairs her lyrical nostalgia with a whistled hook and punchy chorus, resulting in a summery track to breeze us through the final weeks of 2016.
GIA’s debut track “Only A Girl” thrust her into the spotlight at the age of 18, catching the attention of major producers such as Switch and King Henry. Since then, she’s been in the studio honing her sound, with the promise of further releases in the new year.
