George Cosby unveils powerful debut single-proper in the form of “Ritual Blush”
Back in May 2014 our attention was stolen by a track and, more specifically, a vocal performance by the somewhat mysterious George Cosby. The standalone effort foreshadowed more quality to come whilst instantly highlighting a very obvious knack for songwriting.
We held our breath for more and can finally exhale now that the young Londoner has re-emerged with a beefed-up re-recording of the track that so caught us last year.
Once again Cosby's voice forms the centrepoint of the track. Dark and brooding, it sores powerfully over relentless strumming guitar and pounding drums, building to a frenzy thanks to its emotionally-charged, catching chorus. "I will be there howling darling / blush, blush, I'm waiting on a human touch," the newcomer bellows with fist-clenching assurance.
It feels like there is something of a "Ritual Blush"-shaped gap in much of our listening at the moment and the new cut is one for those who like their indie to pack a melancholic punch. Stream George Cosby's immersive debut below.
