Brighton duo FRÖST reemerge from the gloom with new single "Keratin"
The mysterious pair – who’s only previous output to date is their murkily glitchy debut "Crackling On The Wire" – rejig their prior formula with an unprecedented detour through the best of 80s alt-pop.
Understated beats and bubbling synths entice you to come closer as the alluring chant of vocalist Johanna Bramli weaves through the rhythmic percussion of the track. Their penchant for the more experimental is palpable and FRÖST as a project feels inevitable, with Franco-Swedish Bramli crafting as a sound artist prior to collaborating with Fujiya and Miyagi’s synth player and producer Steve Lewis.
As FRÖST, the pair relish in slowly mounting the tension of "Keratin" into an earworm of a climax. In discussing the track, the band state that "'Keratin' takes us through a journey of sensations, from the surface of our skin into the depth of our bones." And alas, it is hard to disagree.
