Written by Fred Well (taking the name of his band as a recording name, the Bergen native is Fredrik Bertheussen Brurås by birth) along with producers Couros and Stockhaus, "Complicated" is smooth R&B-flavoured pop track with warm synths and finger-click percussion. The real key to the song about trying to pick between grey areas between friendship and relationship is Well's terrific voice; it moves effortlessly from low to high registers, like a Justin or a Pharrell perhaps.
