Former Bloc Party drummer Matt Tong reveals raucous solo track "Christopher"
Former Bloc Party drummer Matt Tong has released a solo track titled "Christopher", and you can hear/buy it now.
The track features on Sneaky Bear's 2015 Mixtape, which was released today (30 December).
Since his departure from Bloc Party, Tong has branched out into a number of projects, including Algiers, L'Amour Bleu, and Red Love. Although it's credited simply to Tong himself, it wouldn't be a surprise to find out this is a whole-band effort, given the amount of voices in the mix (although he could just be layering his own vocals, of course).
"Christopher" is a blurry screech through rock'n'roll, and punk, with melodic nods to Ezra Furman and howled references to early-'90s grunge - it's yet another twist from the jack-of-all-genres.
Stream "Christopher" via Bandcamp below. You can also check out the whole mixtape if you'd like.
