Florence Arman yearns for the familiarity of "Home"
On new single "Home", singer/songwriter Florence Arman references her childhood of travelling between parents and how the new rifts of the pandemic re-opened old wounds.
"It's about mum and Marmite and wellies," Arman's Instagram bio reads. It's also about PG Tips, her preferred brand of tea, and as the single's artwork tastefully suggests home isn't that far away when you've got a hot brew in your favourite mug.
"Home" is like a cup of tea in the way envelopes you with a warm hug, while Arman details her struggles and the sense of loss she feels for being absent for so long it's still a reminder that this nostalgic comfort exists somewhere.
Written on her bedroom floor when she moved to a new apartment in Vienna, the song reflects her leap into a new, unexplored city and the memories this dragged up. Having spent her childhood spilt between the UK and Germany, on account on her parents living apart, Arman was used to feeling uprooted, alone and nostalgic for one of her homes when she visiting the other.
Having previously written and performed under the pseudonym klei, Arman is no stranger to the pop world or letting people know how she feels through song – take 2018 filous single "Bicycle" which she co-wrote and features on.
The third single to be taken from her forthcoming debut EP, "Home" follows tongue-in-cheek debut "Naked" and sumptuous ballad "In a Heartbeat", both of which showing of Arman's songwriting expertise. The EP which is set to follow next year tracks the growth of this exciting artist who isn't afraid to share her unfiltered self through evocative pop.
