Finland's Siinai rise from their slumber with 11-minute psych opus "Ananda"

07 May 2015, 10:32 | Written by Laurence Day

Finnish noisemakers Siinai have returned with an ambitious, vivid 11 minutes of sound called "Ananda".

Speaking about the track, the band said: "After a long hibernation, we have risen like Lazarus from the grave. Ananda is a song that projects the feeling of first bursts of light into the depressing, murderous Finnish Kaamos. It's like riding a southbound train from Lapland into the light, into life, into bliss."

It's a sprawling piece of krautrock-infused psychedelia, with lolloping motoriks underpinnning minimalist harmonies, melodies and a heap of repetition. It's not something to be snaffled in an instant, but rather an ever-evolving ode that needs time to digest. Get lost in it. Lose yourself in the music. The moment
you own it, you better never let it go...

Listen to "Ananda" below. Their remaining UK shows can be found after.
