Eléa Calvet digs deep to harrowing effect on debut release "Lust"
The debut single from Bristol’s Eléa Calvet, "Lust", relies upon its harrowing guitar and often injured-sounding vocals to paint a sonic picture.
Beginning with the focus on soulful isolated notes, halfway through the tune kicks up a notch and Calvet roars over the track, her raw, ragged, almost guttural voice crooning over an atmospheric backing track. With her voice she conjures images of grey waves crashing onto a pebbled beach and roiling purple thunderclouds breaking apart to reveal a sauntering double rainbow.
Calvet’s roots in poetry are clear in her lyrics, as she paints a unique emotional picture throughout the track. She is an eclectic artist, and certainly one who does not hold back.
