Ecca Vandal takes no prisoners on unhinged floorfiller "Broke Days, Party Nights"
Melbourne-based maverick Ecca Vandal deploys barbed jam "Broke Days, Party Nights" - the first tune from her upcoming debut LP.
Vandal's brew is pointedly non-conforming. Scraps of The Rapture's haywire electro are sewn onto Charli XCX-y pop bombast, with punk aggro, hardcore rhythms, and hedonistic spirit splattered across the melee - it's a totally chaotic, patchwork concoction that grabs you by the scruff of the neck and drags you to your feet.
"I hope people feel energised by it," Vandal says. "The message of no matter what, money doesn’t actually matter and we can still have a good time - that’s autobiographical really. There’s been so many times where I’ve been eating two minute noodles while making this record in my lounge room that, at the end of the day, I had to check that I was actually having fun and enjoying the process even though I was dirt broke."
The accompanying visuals are directed by Kidnot, a frequent collaborator of Vandal's, as well as photographer Sean McDonald.
