Urban giants Def Jam have gained a less than flattering reputation lately for their delayed releases, to the point that Frank Ocean‘s recent addition to the roster was met by fears that the ice caps would already have melted by the time we get to enjoy any mainstream Ocean output.
With this in mind, R&B artist The-Dream has vented his frustration at the hip-hop label postponing his forthcoming release The Love; IV (Diary of A Madman) by self-releasing an entire album’s worth of tracks under his birth name of Terius Nash and bearing the title of the year of his birth 1977.
Nash wrote about the upload on Twitter:
“The chances ‘DefJam’ puts a Cease and Desist on 1977 unfortunately very high. But I think y’all will have it before lawyers make me take it down.”
The eleven track LP features guest spots from the likes of Pharrell Williams and Big Sean.
You can download the album for free from his official website.
