The Glaswegian outfit fronted by poet and songwriter Declan Welsh follow up singles “Useless” and “No Pasaran” with floor-filler “Shiny Toys”.
Their most anthemic offering to date, “Shiny Toys” draws on influences ranging from Pavement to Blur to Arctic Monkeys and is focused on the lost musical practice of chorus making within the band community. Twangy guitars and powerful drums serve as the perfect backdrop to Welsh’s snarling lyrics about love, hate, and rivalry.
“Shiny Toys” is taken from Declan Welsh & The Decadent West’s upcoming EP and is a signifier of great things to come from one Glasgow’s greatest hopes.
“Shiny Toys” is out now.
