LA via Tempe, Arizona duo, Dead Times, have been a shade quiet recently, having spent the last few months squirreled away writing new material – of which they claim only four of around twenty tracks they penned made the cut – and honing their live setup ahead dates later this month.
We can only assume that ‘Inner Gold’ is the product of one of these stringent recording sessions, and much like previous drops ‘Centuries‘ and ‘Feel‘, the pairing allow their penchant for weird RnB to ooze from every pore. Slick as hell hand percussion slides into fuzzy bass burps and choppy synth loops which shimmer and swell like desert sandstorms before breaking and building again from scratch.
Fully in keeping with their short and sweet mantra, and packed with irrepressibly soulful motifs like, ‘I promise that you’re enough’, ‘Inner Gold’ is a slow jam worthy of some serious riches.
