Cowtown get festive with their cover of "Wonderful Christmastime" [Premiere]
"Over-stimulated indie rock" trio Cowtown are unveiling their cover of Paul McCartney's December staple "Wonderful Christmastime" on Best Fit.
The Too Pure Singles Club is releasing a Leeds-centric split to celebrate the upcoming festive season, with Menace Beach and Cowtown providing the seasonal spirit. The former's "Holidays Are Heavy" arrived last week, and we're proud to be raising the curtain on Cowtown's jangly twist on Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime".
The Cowtown take is fairly faithful to McCartney's merry rendition, with a few psych-pop turns to make it a brilliantly woozy take on the ubiquitous classic. McCartney's twee jangles aren't totally gone, but a lot of the sugar is replaced by a spaced-out delirium.
