Cousin Kula soar into the stratosphere on wiry art-pop behemoth "Ode To Lyle"
Bristol's Cousin Kula toy with convention on off-kilter art-pop single "Ode To Lyle".
"Ode To Lyle" is the follow up to mesmerising debut "Hesitation" - it's also only the band's second track.
The screwball odyssey sees the mysterious group meddle with the script, welding psych freakouts to slick R&B/pop vocals and veering wildly between lush '60s froth and Warp-esque experiments. It's a blitzkrieg of fun and impish U-turns that leaves you restless for more.
Elliot Ellison (vocals) says of the song: “It’s about the realisation that we're getting older, and that there is so much to do, and to wake up and be creatively prolific in life and not let days pass by wasted.”
Jim Barr (Portishead) is on production duties.
