Consolers’ first UK release "Harry" is a buoyant, lo-fi delight
German band Consolers are due to follow last year’s excellent Honey Hours with their first UK release, Astronaut Babies. "Harry" is their first single from their new EP.
Developing the lo-fi, retro feel of their debut EP, "Harry" is a track full of infectious buoyancy which pushes it above and beyond typical indie releases.
Flirting somewhere between the slacker vibes of Mac DeMarco and the more arresting aura of Parquet Courts, "Harry" is a refreshing reminder of everything great music should be. Lackadaisical in approach, there is the threat of rebellion ingrained in the sound, whether it be Florian Hofer’s sprightly guitars or Till Schomburg’s peppy bass lines, which truly elevates and breathes life into the track.
The band say of the track: "When we figured out the melody for the first time we all had suddenly a picture of an old Italian movie in our heads. We actually used this thought in the video. Harry, the song is about is a pizza delivery guy. The lyrics are about this guy called Harry who wants to share his life-experience but he can't because he is stuck in his self-centred character. So he goes down!"
