
Colour of Spring ramp up the distortion on new Track “Love”
Leeds-based shoegaze connoisseurs Colour of Spring are a big fan of distortion and fuzz. New single “Love” drives this point home, with distorted walls of sound swiftly receding into semi-silence, only serving to heighten the eventual impact of the next wave.
Frontman Shane Hunter delved a little deeper into the song, explaining; "'Love' is about the initial prospect of being in love, where everything is confusing, awkward and exciting all at the same time. You’re learning someone else and they’re learning you; all of your idiosyncrasies that you daren’t share with anyone else. There’s so many prominent, strong emotions that it can get really overwhelming.”
The song builds and drops throughout, eventually reaching a crashing crescendo where the feelings of uncertainty and trepidation burst through with the refrain “Was it something I said / Was it something I said?” a thread that cuts through the whirl of reverb perfectly. What sets Colour of Spring apart from the pack is their ability to know when to crank up the volume and when to let the subtle nuances of their songs shine through, a talent that is showcased perfectly on “Love”.
