
Glasgow-based label LP Records launches today with Codist's alt-rock jam "Vitamin D"
After a successful year as a record store in the west end of Glasgow, LP Records (run by Lorenzo Pacitti) is launching a label - and the first single is a cracker from local quartet Codist.
Taken from forthcoming EP Porcelain Boy, "Vitamin D" has both feet firmly in '90s US college rock but there's little doubt that some of Glasgow's rich musical past has found its way into Codist's DNA.
The track starts in almost waltz timing recalling latter-period Pavement, but once the chorus hits (there's a joke about a ray of sunshine in there somewhere) there's a jangle which is unmistakably a by-product of listening to Teenage Fanclub, and it propels the song from good, to being damn great.
