Club Kuru announces EP and shares undeniably sexy new single, "Layla"
The ever expansive modern take on R&B adds another string to its bow, arriving in the form of Laurie Erskine's Club Kuru alias.
Full to the brim of lingering synths, copious hazy vocal lines and aggressive yet intricate off-beat trip-hop drum, Erskine channels '80s cop thriller sex scene music and blends it superbly with the modern R&B we've come to love that ticks off Honne and Jack Garratt as its lists of suspects.
Despite not being directly aimed towards the masses just yet, "Layla" has something undeniably accessible about it. Something that gets the hips and limbs moving in a both minimal and unexplainable fashion. In short, there's something here that you just can't ignore - and you bloody well shouldn't.
The track will feature on Club Kuru's EP of the same name and is released on 27 November via Believe Recordings. See the full tracklist of Layla and listen to the single below.
