CHIVVY long for freedom on atmospheric debut single "Red Water"
Gothenburg-based three-piece CHIVVY present their atmospheric melodies and heartfelt songwriting on debut offering "Red Water".
CHIVVY, formerly known as The Tape, released one EP under their previous name but spent the majority of last year in the studio recording an album, and have emerged from those sessions as CHIVVY.
The trio's debut single "Red Water" is a progressive track that opens with a sparse, almost eerie guitar melody and a consistent yet subtle ringing that creates a pensive atmosphere.
The slow-burner gradually introduces a strong beat, adding a powerful element to the delicate track. The delicacy of the song is soon pushed aside to make way for the grand second chorus that sees CHIVVY unleash their vigorous vocals that cut through the instrumentation with ease to present a more bold side to the band.
CHIVVY say of "Red Water", ""Red Water" is an emotional and strong song about captivity and escape. A current theme that can be applied to animal rights, human flight and human captivity in themselves or society's norms limitations. The song is about longing for freedom and a slightly better world."
"Red Water" journeys through moments of intimate dream-pop and meanders through melancholia while maintaining a hold on the listener with their passionate performance. The raw track is accompanied by a visual shot by Annie Hyrefeldt and featuring dancer Åska-Saga Persdòttir Sivik.
