
Bryde isn't afraid to bare her soul on new track "Less"
Bryde has a lot to live up to with “Less”, after previous offering “Honey” was included on Radio 1’s introducing playlist and named as the Sunday Times’ hottest track. The Welsh-born artist is clearly making waves for all the right reasons.
Bryde certainly dosn’t fit with the stereotypical image of a singer-songwriter, eschewing the trappings of folk harmonies and acoustic guitar entirely. Instead she piles in with an unforgettable alt-rock classic that grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go.
Lyrics like “There’s no need to be sincere / I’m just happy to be here” hint at a deeper vulnerability that pulls “Less” into almost cathartic territory. The honesty of the lyrics and the emotion with which they’re delivered ensure it leaves a lasting impression, rather than becoming just another collection of (admittedly fantastic) riffs.
It’s become cliché to praise new acts by saying they’re like nothing else around right now, but in the case of Bryde it’s a compliment that’s well deserved. There truly is nothing else quite like “Less” around right now. Sometimes sarcastic, sometimes sincere, but unmistakably good from start to finish.
