BOA’s latest single, “Right Place Right Time”, is a tropical, summery heater that provides a perfect antidote to the February blues.
The Bristolian trio have already had heads turning with previous single “Holier”, and with backing from both Buzzfeed and 6 Music Festival, “Right Time Right Place” cements BOA’s ability to produce organic, glittery music.
The track is driven by a slick Reggaeton backbeat that nods to Major Lazer and DJ Snake’s iconic “Lean On”. “Right Place Right Time”, however, is not so much a club-directed floor filler, but a sincere piece of carefully crafted indie-pop. BOA are solely responsible for the writing and production of this track, and the result is a brilliantly coherent piece of song craft. The vocals are upfront, dreamy and naïve, with the lyrics hinting darkly “Do you know how I played you / ‘Cos I’m always in the right place at the right time”.
The production too is heady and euphoric – guitar licks punctuate the melodic synth lines and the electric drums are crisp and intricately layered. “Right Place Right Time” is self-styled and immaculate indie-pop at it’s best.
Expect big things from BOA in 2016 - their EP is out via Hand In Hive in May, and with tracks as pristine as this, it’s primed to create quite the buzz.
