Blooms bears her emotions on the ethereal “Give Me Up”
Louise Cunnane (Blooms) is tipped for big things in 2016, with her brand of ethereal/heart-breaking songwriting catching the ears of tastemakers across the UK last year.
And it’s not hard to hear why. “Give Me Up” is an ethereal waltz of echo-laden synths and trap style percussion, topped off with delicate vocals.
The lyrics, too, signal a promising future for the Irish-bred, Hackney-based soloist. Troubles of the heart have a tendency to form the perfect basis for poetry, and that’s proven in this case: “You have my soul / you have my heart / tight in your hold / give me up”.
"Give Me Up" is the first taste of new music from Blooms this year, and if the critics are to be believed, it won’t be the last we hear of her. Watch this space.
